Georges Antoine from Chateau du Gazin

Georges Antoine from Chateau du Gazin

This young man is a very promising wine maker. He travels Europe to promote his wine and is very passionate. He should be: it is very much appreciated in the UK, at very elegant tables too!
He is making headway with his knowledge of Malbec and it gives his Chateau du Gazin a lovely noble quality and a little "je ne sais quoi" to keep us guessing and pleased.

Hugues Delacour from Chateau de la Cour

Hugues Delacour from Chateau de la Cour

Hugues Delacour is a gifted young winemaker, living alone in one great big house on Saint Emilion Grand Cru plot of land that he called Chateau de la Cour, in Vignonet.
He was crowned best winemaker two years running by his fans in Ireland and does not intend to stop there.
In fact, his new aquisition is the best plot offered in a local auction in Lalande-de-Pomerol. Since 2004 is his first vintage and it is quite delicious, his 2005 will be a corker.

The family wine: Chateau Clauzet

The family wine: Chateau Clauzet

The Holy Grail of the Velge family. We never tire of it and it improves every vintage.
Read its description in the online shop for more details.

Jose Bueno is the wine maker at Chateau Clauzet and a veteran at that, as he has been making wines at Chateau Clauzet for 10 years now. Before that he was making Chateau Clerc Milon and Chateau d'Armailhac, belonging to the Mouton-Rothschild wine collection. He is definitely an expert and to prove it, he akes his own wine on the side, a tiny parcel of land in nearby Cissac, which sells out every year without fail. A definite gift of the god of wine to us mere mortals.

Baron Velge SA has no grand Chateau related to it, unlike Mouton-Rothschild not far away. It is basically a working farm, but a lot of energy has also been put into making the ageless buildings look welcoming, aesthetic and somehow fresh and contemporary.

Careful grape selection: this is what it means

Careful grape selection: this is what it means

It is a painstaking job, done by seasoned professionals. I tried helping one time but got such dirty looks that I ceased immediately.
Don't imagine you'll be harvesting just for the fun of it. These hands are re-hired every year and are like divas: sometimes they have to turn down a job!

This is Catherine; the person who will tell you about the wines at your wine-tasting, or at your venue if you want to consider the portfolio. Cheese!

Our other wine on the estate is Chateau de Come and it regularly wins awards at the International Wine Challenge. Last year, the 2003 vintage won a Commendation.

We do this to reassure you that these wines remain at the top of their game, year after year. Many submit their wines from all over the world, but few are chosen. We're very proud!
